Visiting Granny Bruce

Waitrose, gift buying in Cirencester,

It’s 16:00, still light enough to see without the car park lights on.

In steps Luce who’s got the gifts for Granny..!

We’ve given the chocolate truffles and bulb set over.

Conversations about: Grandpa’s siblings- six of them, work, elephants and our Aunty who’s birthday it is! 

I’m next to the gas fire in the living room.

It’s almost dinner: we’ve had our crisps and Strictly Come Dancing is up next.

Me, watching this show, I breathe in acceptance and get into it..

It’s been a good day, thank you Lord, it’s been a good day.

Remember, I say to myself, I’ve still got to drive home, reserve energy for the drive..
